Oils How To Use CBD Joints For Quick Relief

Ever since the US 2018 Farm Bill has legalized hemp derivatives, hemp-derived CBD products have become more accessible and acceptable by the public. Cannabis has always been used for medical and recreational purposes. Now that everyone knows that CBD is not intoxicating, smokers think CBD pre-rolls or CBD joints are the healthy versions of traditional cigarettes.

What Does Smoking A CBD Joint Feels Like?

What Does Smoking CBD Joints Feels Like?

CBD hemp pre-rolls come in wonderful aromas, such as:

  • Chardonnay,
  • Fiona, and
  • Juicy Fruit.

In the states where recreational use of cannabis is legal, you may smoke cannabis joints with high-levels of THC. THC-free CBD joint has the same look and feel. But they don’t get you ‘high’.

CBD pre-rolls seems like a good alternative to smoking weed (or pot). Their taste and aroma are quite like marijuana pre-rolls. Smoking a CBD joint is usually smaller in size than weed pre-rolls. But they are a good way to calm down and relax. CBD smokers say that it takes 5 to 10 minutes of the cannabidiol to show its effects after they inhale it. The CBD effects usually last for about an hour.

The right way to smoke a CBD joint is to:

  • Light the CBD joint and take a few small and quick puffs to get started.
  • Once the joint is well-lit, you may take heavier drags.

The best thing about a CBD joint is that it does not impair you in any way. Unlike weed cigs, CBD hemp pre-rolls do not have any mind-altering effects. They do not cause:

  • altered perception of distance and time,
  • hallucinations,
  • anxiety or panic stacks, or
  • the fogginess of the mind.

It means that you can smoke a CBD joint during day time to bust the work stress without worrying about it affecting your performance at work.

How Does Smoking CBD Joints Differ From Vaping CBD?

How Does Smoking A CBD Joint Differ From Vaping CBD?

The main difference between smoking a CBD joint and inhaling through CBD through vape pens (or CBD e-cigs) is that the latter is not harsh to your lungs and throat. Besides that, vaping or smoking CBD are the most effective methods of consuming it. The bioavailability of CBD joints is greater than CBD edibles, capsules, or topicals.

Oral consumption of CBD means that the cannabidiol has to pass through the digestive process where most of it gets processed. The amount of CBD that reaches the bloodstream is just 10% to 30% of the CBD dose you take. Smoking CBD cigs bypass that process and the cannabidiol reaches the bloodstream directly. Hence, joints are more potent than CBD edibles.

People are quick to say that vaping is safer than smoking. You already know that smoking may lead you to serious diseases in a few decades, like:

  • lung cancer,
  • breast cancer,
  • heart diseases, and
  • emphysema.

The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) reports that e-cigarettes or vape pens may cause serious damage to lungs and seizures in just one year! As early as in 2009, the FDA had pointed out that vape pens contain ‘carcinogens and toxic chemicals’.

Vaping is relatively a new form of CBD consumption. More scientific evidence is needed to establish the safety of CBD vapes over the long term. Until then, you can enjoy your CBD joint to harvest various health benefits of cannabidiol.

Can CBD Joints Help You With Tobacco Addiction?

Can CBD Joints Help You With Tobacco Addiction?

Rolling a CBD joint (or buying a CBD pre-roll) is a highly recommended solution for those who are trying to quit smoking. CBD is a safe derivative of cannabis plants. It can help with:

  • providing pain relief,
  • reducing anxiety and depression,
  • managing diabetes, and
  • improving cardiovascular diseases.

Tobacco smokers are increasingly relying on CBD pre-rolls to get over their CBD addiction. Current scientific evidence seems to support this view. A 2013 study was published in the journal ‘Addictive Behaviors’. This pilot study found that the ad-hoc use of cannabidiol in smokers reduced the number of cigarettes smoked by 40% in a week. It suggested that CBD can be a potential nicotine addiction treatment.

A 2018 study in the UK found that cannabidiol reverses cigarette cravings in people struggling with tobacco withdrawal. This study noted that CBD has:

  • anxiolytic properties (reduces anxiety),
  • minimal side effects, and
  • the ability to modify drug cue salience.

The participants were all addicted cigarette smokers not seeking treatment at the time. Researchers administered a single CBD (or placebo) dosage of 800 mg orally during two overnight sessions. During these nights, participants had to abstain from smoking tobacco. It was found that the oral CBD dose reduced the salience and pleasantness of cigarette cues in smokers.

The latest study revealed that the use of CBD can also reduce craving and anxiety in people with opioid addiction. Researchers administered CBD on the patients for three days and found that it reduced:

  • craving, and
  • anxiety

in people with opioid use disorders for seven days. It also showed that the use of CBD did not:

  • have any effects on cognition, or
  • any other adverse effects.

Though these studies did not explore the effects of smoking CBD, they do suggest that cannabidiol can help with tobacco and other addictions.

Buying CBD pre-rolls makes sense for those who are looking for a healthier version of cigarettes or marijuana joints. A CBD joint also costs less than other CBD products. So, if you want to ditch tobacco, switch to CBD rolls.

How Is Smoking CBD Better Than Smoking Tobacco?

How Is Smoking CBD Better Than Smoking Tobacco?

Tobacco is the main reason while smoking is a taboo. It causes:

  • lung cancer,
  • diabetes,
  • coronary heart diseases,
  • strokes,
  • chronic bronchitis,
  • asthma, and
  • tooth decay.

It may also lead to brain damage. People who smoke tobacco may also lose their sense of smell, taste, or hearing.

These are some of the reasons why people try to quit smoking. But it is not as easy as it sounds. Quitting smoking altogether is one of the most bitter challenges people take up. On the one hand, it is not easy to kick a habit. On the other hand, the withdrawal effects of tobacco are quite ugly. Once a person quits smoking, he or she may suffer from headaches or constipation or both.

Chances of relapse amongst smokers are quite high.

CBD joints and CBD pre-rolls make it easier for one to quit smoking. They are better than smoking a cigarette with tobacco. They contain CBD (or cannabidiol). Even though CBD is extracted from cannabis, it is non-psychoactive.

Hemp-derived CBD is completely harmless. It contains less than 0.3% THC (which is psychoactive). Hence, it is now legal throughout the US.

Unlike tobacco which is a warehouse of diseases, CBD has hordes of health benefits. It interacts with the CB1 and CB2 receptors of the body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS regulates many functions of the brain, central nervous system, and the immune system. Hence, CBD helps in regulating many bodily functions managed by the ECS.

The FDA has approved the first CBD drug called ‘Epidiolex’ for the treatment of two rare forms of childhood epilepsy. Scientific evidence also suggests that CBD holds great promise as a potential treatment for:

  • anxiety,
  • pain,
  • depression,
  • cardiovascular health, and
  • diabetes.

It also suppresses appetite. More clinic research is needed to confirm the exact health benefits of CBD though.

Even without these effects, CBD is a great food supplement in itself. It is a powerful antioxidant.

In the mid-20th century, it was found that as human ages, the cells break down. This process is known as ‘oxidative stress’.  It was found that ‘free radicals’ (which are by-products of the oxygen metabolism process) are toxic to the human body. They can damage:

  • living cells,
  • tissues, and
  • DNA.

Oxidative stress is to the human body what rust is to iron. Dr. William B. Salt says that smoking tobacco is one of the biggest reasons for generating free radicals in the body. Only one or two puffs are enough to push oxidative stress in the body to dangerous levels. CBD, like other antioxidants, donate electrons to free radicals and neutralize them. This prevents free radicals from pulling out electrons from healthy cells of the body and create a cascade damaging effect.

Way back in 1999, Nobel prize winner Julius Axelrod and other researchers filed a patent (#Patent 1999/008769) about the cannabinoids’ neuroprotectant and antioxidant properties. It mentioned that CBD and THC act as ‘free radical scavengers’. It also claimed that CBD and THC can be used in ‘prophylaxis and treatment of disease’.

CBD also boosts metabolism. This is a significant health benefit for those looking to:

  • control weight, and
  • suppress their appetite.

THC, the main cannabinoid found in marijuana, is known as an appetite stimulant. CBD, THC’s isomer, has an opposite effect. A preclinical study showed that CBD suppressed the appetite of rats. It means that the rats ate less than their normal diet when they received CBD treatment.

CBD is not only good as an appetite suppressant. It also offers other benefits that can help one in weight management. A 2016 study was published in the journal called Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry. It mentioned that CBD causes fat browning which can help in treating obesity. The study found that:

  • CBD stimulates proteins and genes to quicken up the burning and break down of body’s fat.
  • It increases the number of mitochondria in the cells which burn more calories.
  • CBD prevents the creation of ‘new’ fat cells by decreasing proteins needed for ‘lipogenesis’ (or the process of forming fat).

CBD is also believed to fight harmful toxins in the body. Its anxiolytic properties keep one calm and reduce the cravings for ‘comfort foods’. Thus, it helps CBD smokers to keep their appetite and weight in control.

You can say that smoking a CBD joint is a ‘healthier’ version of smoking traditional cigarettes (with tobacco).

How Are CBD Joints Made? What Do They Contain?

How Are CBD Joints Made? What Do They Contain?

CBD joints are joints made from cannabis flowers. These can be:

  • Hemp flowers: which contain less than 0.3% THC, or
  • Marijuana flowers: which contain higher levels of THC.

CBD hemp joints are more famous ad they are legal and can be sold anywhere in the United States. This is the reason many cannabis producers have started growing special hemp plants with high CBD content and only traces of THC.

Cannabis flowers and buds are dried up and rolled into a CBD joint. These CBD pre-rolls can be smoked like a regular cigarette (which contains tobacco).

One  should note that CBD joints contain full-spectrum hemp flowers. They are not pure CBD (or CBD isolate) products. Hence, they contain other compounds found in hemp. These may include:

  • other cannabinoids,
  • terpenes,
  • flavonoids, and
  • even trace amounts of THC.

Together, these compounds set off an ‘entourage effect’ that enhances the efficacy of your CBD joint.

Are CBD Joints Good For You?

Are CBD Joints Good For You?

CBD joints essentially have the same health benefits as most other CBD products. They might not be good for your lungs though. Inhaling CBD is the quickest way of experiencing its effects, which include:

  • pain relief,
  • soothing anxiety,
  • improving brain functioning etc.

Do note that oral CBD products (such as CBD capsules or CBD edibles) take 2-3 hours to show their effects. They only work once they get digested and a small amount of CBD can reach the bloodstream.

A CBD joint allows CBD to reach the blood instantly. It is easy to carry and takes less space than a CBD oil or capsule bottle. It is fuss-free and provides instant relaxation.

A CBD joint is also much cheaper than other CBD products. Hence, one can use it for recreational products with minimal risk of a backlash.

If you are hooked to nicotine, giving up cigarettes does not seem easy. When you smoke a CBD joint, it gives you a psychological satisfaction of fulfilling your craving. CBD pre-rolls may not give you a high but they do calm you. They take care of your anxiety and stress.

Tobacco smokers often say that a quick drag helps them to go through stressful situations. CBD joints are more effective in helping you achieve those effects without tobacco.

CBD joints have the same aroma and taste as a marijuana (or weed) joint. Hence if you smoke weed, you will find it easier to adapt to it too.

The WHO has already accepted that ‘cannabidiol’ does not have abuse potential. The body does not get used to it and it has no withdrawal symptoms. So, it is easier to give up ‘CBD’ than ‘tobacco’. If you intend to quit smoking, you can buy CBD joints instead of cigarettes. Once you are weaned off tobacco, you’ll just have to overcome your oral fixation to give up smoking altogether.
